Browse our collection of surface options and learn the benefits of each surface to ensure your project has the proper play surface.

Poured In Place Rubber Playground Surfacing

Poured in Place Rubber is long-lasting and ideal for ADA accessibility. A poured-in-place (PIP) rubber playground surface is one of the best play surfaces for allowing ADA accessibility. PIP playground surfacing is probably the single most durable & best wheelchair accessible playground surface in the industry. The base, or impact layer is comprised of black, 100% post-consumer recycled rubber (SBR). The cap, or wear, layer is made of ½” colored EPDM. PIP surfacing is an industry leader in amount of urethane binder per square foot in both layers.

Engineered Wood Fiber

Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF), or mulch, is safe and is initially the most affordable playground surfacing option, however it does require refills and maintenance. When properly maintained, it meets ASTM standards. Accessories for weed-control and drainage are available, and we recommend attentive maintenance. The eco-friendly EWF playground surfacing is made from 100% wood and is mechanically engineered & tumbled to reduce the risk of splintering. It’s non-toxic and does not contain paint, chemicals, or additives. Wood playground mulch is ideal for use under playground structures but can also be used economically in an expansive play space. EWF is non-flammable and is tested arsenic and lead free. Pieces are 1″ to 2″ average in length and contain a percentage of fine particles in order to help in compaction. EWF is ADA compliant and meets ASTM, CPSC, and CSA standards.
